We had a wonderful stay at the cottage! The views were absolutely stunning and it’s a perfect size for a family. We loved the cosy furnishings and the outdoor space, which our dog adored. The location was ideal, close to Sherwood Forest and a lovely pub nearby. Definitely recommend for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy a peaceful break!

Oliver
We genuinely enjoyed our stay at Shepard's Cottage. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a lovely surprise - a basket of gifts including wine, chocolatesand treats for our dog, which was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel really welcomed. The cottage itself is spacious and beautifully decorated, with comfy furniture that made relaxing easy. Every room had fresh flowers, which added a nice homey touch. There’s plenty of space and beds for two couples and a couple of kids if needed, so it’s quite versatile. We especially appreciated the detached setting and the big grounds, which kept the place cool during the hot weather. We enjoyed creating a breeze by opening the windowsand the surrounding fields were perfect for walks with the dog. Some parts of the grass were mown, others left wildand our cockapoo loved darting around in the long grass - he was in his element! The owner provided a map to a nearby lake, which was a lovely surprise because we’d never have found it otherwise. The hot tub was a definite highlight - heated by a wood burner, it stayed warm for hours. Logs, fire startersand instructions were all providedand after a bit of fiddling, it was straightforward to use. Just a heads up, the owner’s dogs sometimes appeared around the cottage, which initially freaked our dog out, but they’re super friendly and calm, so it wasn’t an issue. The owner was always quick to respond and very helpful. Honestly, we loved pretty much everything about the place!
James Carter
We had a wonderful family escape, escaping the hustle and enjoying the calm of the countryside. It’s perfect because local shops and amenities are just a short drive away. There are loads of things to do nearby, great for walking the dog or keeping the kids busy. The owners were really friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The summer house, BBQand hot tub were fantastic for relaxing evenings with the kids. Definitely a place we’d come back to!
Benji
We stayed here as a family with three kids (7, 6and 3) plus our dogand it was just what we needed for a quick escape. The location is perfect-peaceful and a bit tucked away, but still close enough to local shops and pubs. The kids loved running around in the field and the dog was in heaven! The hot tub and BBQ were great for unwinding after busy days. The inside space is clean, cosyand well looked after, with lovely views. The owners were super friendly and gave us some fab recommendations. We had such a good time, we’re already planning to come back - wish we’d booked longer!
Emma
We had a lovely stay at The Shepherds Cottage. The peaceful spot with stunning countryside views really made our trip special. There’s plenty to do nearby, which kept everyone happy. The cottage was spotless and well-equipped, making it feel like a home away from home. The bed in the main bedroom was huge and super comfy - we slept like logs! The secure garden was perfect for our dogand the kids adored the games room and hot tub. The fresh garden flowers and a welcome food basket were such a nice touch - we really appreciated it. Honestly, this is one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in and we’d happily come back if we’re in the area again!
Alex Morgan
We really enjoyed our 3-night stay at the cottage. It’s a lovely, peaceful spot, perfect for relaxing. The dog-friendly aspect is great, but bear in mind, dogs can't go upstairs or into the back snug. It’s handy to be close to lots of local sights too. Would recommend!
James Cooper

Anne and Bruce were friendly but not intrusive, which we appreciated. Everything felt like a proper home from home, just with better scenery. We’re already planning our return - can’t wait to come back!
